FaxTool
is built for FileMaker
Ever
wonder why you can specify all types of information for a print
job via Page Setup in FileMaker, and you can get FileMaker to
dial the phone, and yet faxing doesn't seem to be possible? Why
isn't there a step in ScriptMaker for "Send Fax"?
Simply put, because there are too many things that fax software does
that FileMaker can't control without help. Your fax software has
modem profiles, and dialing preferences, and its own address book,
with its own data, as well as parts that do specialized functions
necessary for generating and sending a fax. Most of this activity
goes on below the level of your desktop, where you and FileMaker
can get to it.
Wouldn't it be great if FileMaker could control those elements of faxing
though? Imagine storing all of your contact information in a FileMaker
database, performing all types of finds and sorts, generating
reports and cover pages, and sending them all out with a single
button-click in FileMaker.
With FaxTool, all of this is possible. FaxTool is an application that
receives information and commands from FileMaker, interprets them,
and sends them to FAXstf, which in turn sends your faxes.

Faxing
completely from FileMaker Pro
FileMaker
is great for storing info: names, companies, fax numbers, sales
figures. FileMaker can send this information to another application
via 40 different Apple Events (a command from ScriptMaker). This
information is read by FaxTool, which then tells the fax software
(FAXstf) what to send and where to send it.
All of the faxing steps we've gone over, from the faxprinting to pulling
down the Chooser to generating destinations files to modem dialing
can all be directed from FaxTool, after FileMaker tells FaxTool
what to do.
