Faxing (in 10,000 words or less) continued Now,
when you hit the "Fax..." command in your document, the memo doesn't
go to your regular printer. Instead, it "prints" to a special
file that your fax software can read and use (it's just an electronic
picture of the fax you're sending). This faxprint file is stored
somewhere on your hard drive, usually in a special folder set
aside by your fax software, and it sits there quietly until it's
called upon.
Destinations, Destinations
When you print something you use the Chooser to tell the print job
where to go (the printer). Once you've selected a faxprinter,
though, you've got a faxprint job that has no place to go until
you tell it where it's going.
The second part of sending a fax is to tell the faxprint file you
just created (now sitting on your hard drive) where to go and how
to go there. This is usually done at a window like the one at right,
sometimes called the fax address book.
This is where you add a destination to your faxprint file. You choose
the people you want to send the fax to, and drag them to the destinations
windows on the right. You can specify a few other settings here,
like fax quality, page count, and some other pref settings (including
cover page and notes) and then hit "Fax".
